News Week in Review 3rd September – 9th September 2007
* The second unit director/action choreographer on the Bourne films Dan Bradley has been hired to do the same for the next Bond movie. Bradley has also worked on the Indiana Jones movies as well as Spider-Man. The as yet untitled 22nd Bond outing should at least have some kick-ass fight scenes.
* Atari console game from the 80's Joust is to get a film version. In a Hollywood bankrupt of original ideas they are aiming to make this one "Gladiator meets Mad Max". Oh dear……
* Sacha Baron Cohen will star in Dinner with Schmucks for director Jay Roach (Meet the Parents). The film is a remake of French film Le Diner De Cons. This will be after he brings another of his original creations to the screen, fashion correspondent Bruno.
* Warner Bros and Tobey Maguire are to produce a film version of 1980's Japanime Robotech. Maguire is apparently keen to play the lead and will produce for his Maguire Entertainment production company.
* Wolfgang Petersen will next direct a film version of Communion author Whitley Streiber's novel The Grays. The plot concerns a married couple who have buried memories of being abducted by aliens as kids until a UFO sighting in their hometown ignites their memories.
* Johnny Knoxville and the Jackass gang are currently filming lots of extra footage of themselves being nearly killed for a DVD release Jackass 2.5. The DVD will be available around Christmas time.
