News Week in Review 13th August -19th August 2007
* Ice Cube is attached to star in graphic novel adaptation 10 for Dimension Films. The story is a Battle Royale esque tale of a man who receives a piece of mail telling him is in a competition with nine other people. He ignores this until a man wielding an axe attacks him.
* After Rosario Dawson dropped out none other than the star of Teen Wolf too Jason Bateman has signed on to the lead in Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri make a Porno. The plot is similar to the recent I Want Candy and The Moguls. It isn't yet confirmed who is taking over the female lead from Dawson.
* Old school production house RKO Pictures is back with a remake of Isle of the Dead. The original concerns the breakout of a deadly virus on an island. The new version will apparently re-locate to Afghanistan.
* Kiwi stuntman Zoe Bell who is apparently awesome in Tarantino's Death Proof will star in an action flick for Senator Entertainment all about an Iraq war veteran returning home and trying to acclimatize back to life in the US. She then gets mixed up with a young girl in trouble.
* Roland Emmerich has confirmed his next project is a remake of Fantastic Voyage. This has been in development for about ten years and now seems to finally be going ahead. The plot is about a miniaturized crew who are injected into a human body in a submarine like craft. They then have to perform an operation from within a dying man.
* Tarsem Singh the director of the visually stunning The Cell and REM's Losing My Religion music video will direct a film called The Unforgettable which is loosely based on the PS2 game Condemned.
* The gorgeous Scarlett Johannson has signed on as the female lead alongside Gabriel Macht in Frank Miller's The Spirit. Johannson was born to play every femme fatale that ever lived. I can just see it now…..
* Paul McGuigan the director of the underrated Lucky Number Slevin will next make Push. The story involves youngsters with telekinetic powers who are on the run from the government in Hong Kong. Chris Evans, Djimon Honsou and Dakota Fanning will star.
