Troll
Absolutely one of the worst films you will ever see, but also one of the funniest
In no way is this film underrated or worth resurrecting in any way, shape or form. The reason it's on this site is beacuse I'm sure that, like me, there's a bunch of 80's kids out there who have vague memories of a troll turning a guy in to a plant, and because it's just flat out hilarious for all the wrong reasons.
The story (as if you care) concerns a group of people in an apartment block being "terrorised" by a troll named Torok. In actual fact Torok spends most of his time in the guise of a little girl, who is neither scare or particularyl troll-like. A shame really as the actual make-up effects that went into creating little ol' Torok are rather good and certainly more effective than any CGI mash up that would happen today.
It's hard to pinpoint exactly what makes this film such a cross between appalling and side-splittingly funny, but I'm pretty sure that Michale Moriarty's dance sequence and the Troll song (has to be heard to be believed) are integral its genius.
And, oh yes, think it's a coincidence that one of the actors playing a human happens to be a dwarf? Nope me neither - they were clearly saving money as (yes!) he plays the Troll too.
And one more thing, fans of Seinfeld take note. As if this movie wasn't enough of a must-see - it also features Julie Louis-Dreyfus (that's Elaine from the aformentioned sitcom) running naked through a forest. See it, believe it and then never watch it again.
Nice poster though eh?
